⚠ Stop Using This Formula Immediately if you have one of the recalled batches. Do not give it to your baby. Return it to where you bought it for a full refund or dispose of it. See the batch numbers below.
On May 2, 2026, The a2 Milk Company voluntarily recalled three specific batches of its a2 Platinum Premium USA label infant formula for babies 0 to 12 months old. The reason: a toxin called cereulide was found in the formula.
The formula was sold online through the a2 Milk Company’s website and Amazon, and in stores at Meijer. If you have a can of this formula at home, check the batch number right now.
Which Batches Are Recalled?
Three specific batches are affected. Here are the batch numbers and use-by dates:
| Batch Number | Use By Date |
|---|---|
| 2210269454 | July 15, 2026 |
| 2210321712 | January 21, 2027 |
| 2210324609 | January 15, 2027 |
The batch number is printed on the bottom of the can. Only these three batch numbers are affected. If your can has a different batch number, it is not part of this recall.
What Is Cereulide and Why Is It Dangerous?
Cereulide is a toxin made by a type of bacteria called Bacillus cereus. When this toxin gets into food, it can make people sick even in small amounts.
The main symptoms are vomiting and nausea. In older children and adults, this is usually not life-threatening. But in babies, it is much more serious. Babies are smaller, they cannot tell you what is wrong, and they can lose fluid and become very sick very quickly.
Infants who are fed contaminated formula may vomit repeatedly. If your baby has been fed from one of the recalled batches and is showing symptoms, call your doctor or go to the emergency room right away.
Where Was the Formula Sold?
The three recalled batches were sold through:
- The a2 Milk Company’s official website
- Amazon
- Meijer stores
About 16,400 units from the recalled batches were sold in the United States before the recall was issued. The recall covers about 63,000 total tins across all three batches, including units that had not yet been distributed.
As of the recall date, no confirmed illnesses had been reported. However, the potential for serious harm to infants is why the recall was issued. If your baby has shown any symptoms — particularly vomiting after feedings — contact your pediatrician.
What Should You Do Right Now?
- Check your can. Look at the batch number on the bottom of the tin. Compare it to the three numbers listed above.
- Stop using it immediately if you have a recalled batch. Do not finish the can.
- Return it to where you bought it (Amazon, Meijer, or the a2 website) for a full refund.
- Call your doctor if your baby has had symptoms like repeated vomiting after feedings.
- Find a replacement. Contact your pediatrician if you need help finding a suitable alternative formula quickly.
Did My Baby Get Sick From This Formula?
If your baby was fed one of the recalled batches and became ill — particularly with vomiting, dehydration, or other serious symptoms — you may have legal options.
When a company sells a product that is not safe for the people it was made for, families may be able to seek help through the legal system. This is especially true for infant formula, which is often the only thing a young baby eats.
Filing a legal inquiry is free and takes about 2 minutes. Use the form below to tell us what happened. If your situation may qualify, a member of our team will reach out to you.
